How to Create a Multiscreen Workout

How to Create a Multiscreen Workout

1. Open the Multiscreen workout builder

Log in to the Funxtion CMS.
Go to Workouts and select New Multiscreen.
Use this workout builder for workouts that must be displayed across an FXGYM MS1 to MS6 setup.
Make sure you use New Multiscreen and not New Workout, as the Multiscreen workout builder contains the additional MSS Type and zone settings.

2. Basic workout details

Use a clear workout name that is easy to recognise in the CMS.
Complete the basic details such as:
  1. Workout name
  2. Created by
  3. Body parts
  4. Fitness Category
  5. Fitness Type
  6. The Body parts field helps identify the main training focus, for example full body, upper body, lower body or core.

3. Fitness Category

Choose the category that best matches the main purpose of the workout.
  1. Cardio — endurance or heart-rate focused workouts
  2. Bodyweight — workouts mainly using bodyweight exercises
  3. Strength — resistance or strength-focused workouts
  4. Boxing — boxing-based sessions
  5. Mobility — mobility or flexibility sessions
  6. Funxtional — functional training formats
  7. Hyrox — Hyrox-specific or Hyrox-style workouts
Best practice: choose the category based on the main focus of the workout, not on a small secondary element.

4. Fitness Type

Choose the type that best describes the workout focus.
  1. HIIT — interval-based sessions
  2. Cardio — endurance-based sessions
  3. Booty — glute-focused workouts
  4. Core — core-focused sessions
  5. Stretching — flexibility or recovery sessions

5. MSS Type

The key extra setting for a Multiscreen Workout is MSS Type.

Boutique view

Use Boutique when the multiscreen setup should support a more guided class experience.
This view is useful when the workout is presented as one shared workout flow across the room.

Circuit view

Use Circuit when participants move through different exercises or stations in sequence.
This view is useful when each zone has its own exercise block or station focus.
The selected MSS Type determines how the zones are used within the workout.

6. Description fields

There are two description fields:
Description
This field is for internal information only.
It is not visible on the FXGYM.
Use it for internal notes, setup details or content remarks.

External description
This field is visible on the FXGYM.
Use it for a short customer-facing description of the workout. Keep it clear and practical.

7. Zones

Zones define how the workout is divided across the multiscreen setup.

Use zones to structure what appears on each screen or station. For each zone, configure the timing and add the relevant exercise block.

Prep Time per Zone

Use Prep Time per Zone to set the transition time before a zone starts.

This gives participants time to move to the next station or prepare for the next exercise.

Add exercises to a zone

Each zone can contain its own exercise block. Add the exercise that should be shown for that specific zone.

Duplicate a zone

Use the copy button next to the zone label to duplicate an existing zone.

This is useful when multiple zones use a similar setup and only small changes are needed.

8. Warming up and cooling down

Warm-ups and cool-downs must be created separately before they can be added to a Multiscreen Workout.

To create one:

  1. Go to Workouts > New warming up / cooling down.
  2. Enter a name and select the type.
  3. Add the exercises and configure the timing.
  4. Select Save.

To add it to the workout, select + Add warming up or + Add cooling down and choose the required item.

Existing items can be edited, duplicated or deleted via Workouts > Warming up / cooling down list.

9. Final check

Before saving, check that:

  • the standard workout settings are correct
  • the MSS Type matches the intended multiscreen format
  • the zone setup matches the workout flow
  • prep time per zone is set correctly
  • exercises are added to the correct zones
  • the external description is customer-facing
  • the assignment is correct
  • warming up and cooling down are linked if needed
