FXGYM Multiscreen Troubleshooting Guide

FXGYM Multiscreen Troubleshooting Guide

Use this guide when the FXGYM Multiscreen control tablet, one or more screens, or the connected BrightSign players are not working correctly.

This guide applies to FXGYM MS1 through FXGYM MS6 setups.

Restart the equipment when the system is frozen, screens are not synchronized or content does not respond correctly.

If one screen is affected

  1. Turn off the affected screen.

  2. Disconnect power from the BrightSign player connected to that screen.

  3. Wait at least 30 seconds.

  4. Reconnect power to the BrightSign player.

  5. Wait approximately three minutes for the player to start.

  6. Turn the screen back on.

  7. Check that the correct HDMI input is selected.

If multiple screens are affected

  1. Turn off all screens.

  2. Disconnect power from all BrightSign players.

  3. Wait at least 60 seconds.

  4. Reconnect power to all BrightSign players.

  5. Wait approximately three to five minutes for the players to start.

  6. Turn all screens back on.

  7. Check that each screen is set to the correct HDMI input.

  8. Start a workout and check all screens.

Only restart the control tablet when the tablet itself is frozen or not responding.

1. A screen is black or shows no signal

Possible causes

  • The screen is turned off or in standby mode.

  • The wrong HDMI input is selected.

  • The HDMI cable is loose or damaged.

  • The BrightSign player has no power.

  • The BrightSign player has not fully started.

How to fix it

  1. Check whether the screen is turned on.

  2. Select the correct HDMI input using the screen’s remote control.

  3. Check whether the BrightSign player shows a power light.

  4. Check the HDMI cable at both the screen and the BrightSign player.

  5. If possible, test another HDMI cable.

  6. Restart the affected screen and BrightSign player using the recommended restart sequence.

  7. Wait until the player has fully started and check the screen again.

2. Content is missing or unavailable

Use this section when a workout is not visible on the control tablet or cannot be started.

Possible causes

  • The content is not active
  • The content is not assigned to the correct location or player
  • The control tablet has not refreshed
  • One or more BrightSign players are offline
  • The content has not finished downloading

How to fix it

  1. Check that the control tablet and all BrightSign players are connected to the wired network.
  2. Confirm that the content is set to Active in the Funxtion CMS.
  3. Save any changes.
  4. Allow the BrightSign players enough time to download the content.

  7. Check whether the content is now available.

3. The control tablet is frozen or does not respond

Possible causes

  • The FXGYM Multiscreen interface has not loaded correctly.

  • The control tablet is temporarily frozen.

  • The tablet has lost its network connection.

  • The tablet is not logged in correctly.

How to fix it

  1. Check whether the control tablet is turned on.

  2. Check whether the Ethernet cable is firmly connected.

  3. Tap the screen four to five times quickly.

  4. Enter PIN 1234 if requested.

  5. Select CLR to reload the interface.

  6. Wait until the FXGYM Multiscreen interface has fully loaded.

  7. Test whether you can open and start a workout.

  8. If the tablet remains frozen, restart the control tablet and test again.

Do not change any other settings in the hidden menu.

4. The screens are not synchronized

Use this section when screens start at different times or show different parts of the same workout.

Possible causes

  • One BrightSign player started later than the other players.

  • A player temporarily lost its network connection.

  • One player has not downloaded the latest content.

  • One player did not receive the start command from the control tablet.

How to fix it

  1. Stop the current workout.

  2. Check that all BrightSign players are turned on.

  3. Check the Ethernet connection of each player.

  4. Start the workout again from the control tablet.

  5. Check whether all screens start at the same time.

  6. If one screen remains out of sync, restart the BrightSign player connected to that screen.

  7. If multiple screens remain out of sync, restart all BrightSign players using the recommended restart sequence.

  8. Start the workout again and compare all screens.

5. One screen shows incorrect content or does not respond

Use this section when the other screens work correctly, but one screen shows the wrong zone, remains on an older workout or does not change.

Possible causes

  • The BrightSign player connected to the screen is offline.

  • The player did not receive the latest command.

  • The latest content has not downloaded.

  • The HDMI or Ethernet cable is loose.

  • The player is assigned to the wrong zone.

  • The player has not fully started.

How to fix it

  1. Check whether the affected screen and BrightSign player are turned on.

  2. Check that the correct HDMI input is selected.

  3. Check the HDMI and Ethernet connections.

  4. Start another workout from the control tablet.

  5. Check whether the affected screen changes.

  6. Restart the BrightSign player connected to the affected screen.

  7. Wait until the player has fully started.

  8. Start the workout again and compare the screen with the other screens.

Do not change the player or zone assignment unless instructed by Funxtion Support.

6. A workout starts on the tablet, but none of the screens respond

Possible causes

  • The control tablet or BrightSign players have lost their network connection.

  • Communication between the control tablet and the players has been interrupted.

  • The BrightSign players have not fully started.

  • The selected workout is not available on the players.

How to fix it

  1. Check that the control tablet is connected to the wired network.

  2. Check that all BrightSign players have power and a wired network connection.

  3. Reload the control tablet:

    • Tap the screen four to five times quickly.

    • Enter PIN 1234 if requested.

    • Select CLR.

  4. Wait until the interface has fully reloaded.

  5. Start another workout to check whether the problem affects all content.

  6. If none of the screens respond, restart all BrightSign players using the recommended restart sequence.

  7. Start the workout again.

7. The tablet shows 00:00:00 when starting a virtual class

This usually means that the virtual class has not finished downloading to the BrightSign player.

How to fix it

  1. Check that the control tablet and all BrightSign players are connected to the wired network.

  2. Allow the player enough time to complete the content download.

  3. Try starting another virtual class or workout that was previously available.

  4. Try the original virtual class again after the download has completed.

Contact Funxtion Support if the timer continues to show 00:00:00. Include the location name, player name and virtual class name.

8. The control tablet shows “Webpage Not Available”

This message normally appears when the control tablet cannot connect to the network or load the FXGYM Multiscreen interface.

How to fix it

  1. Check that the Ethernet cable is firmly connected to the control tablet.

  2. Check the network outlet, router or network switch.

  3. Restart the control tablet.

  4. Wait until the tablet has fully restarted and check the interface again.

To test the wired connection:

  1. Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the control tablet.

  2. Connect the same cable to a laptop.

  3. Turn off Wi-Fi on the laptop.

  4. Check whether the laptop receives an internet connection.

If the laptop also has no connection, try another Ethernet cable or network port and contact the location’s network provider if necessary.

If the laptop has a working connection but the tablet continues to show the error, contact Funxtion Support.

9. A screen shows a loading circle on a black background

A loading circle on a black background usually means that the BrightSign player cannot connect to the network or has not finished loading its content.

How to fix it

  1. Check that the BrightSign player is powered on.

  2. Check that the Ethernet cable is firmly connected.

  3. Check whether the Ethernet port lights are active or flashing.

  4. Test the Ethernet cable with a laptop while the laptop’s Wi-Fi is turned off.

  5. Reconnect the Ethernet cable to the BrightSign player.

  6. Restart the affected BrightSign player using the recommended restart sequence.

  7. Wait approximately three to five minutes for the player to start.

Contact Funxtion Support if the network connection works on another device but the BrightSign player continues to show the loading circle.

10. The screen shows “Please insert storage device for recovery”

This message means that the BrightSign player cannot detect its storage card. The card may be missing, incorrectly inserted or defective.

Do not remove, replace or format the storage card unless instructed by Funxtion Support.

Contact Funxtion Support and include:

  • A photo of the error message

  • The location name

  • The affected screen or zone

  • A photo of the BrightSign player
