1. Setup overview

The FXGYM setup allows Funxtion content to be shown and controlled directly on a touchscreen display in the gym.

The setup includes:

• One BrightSign media player

• One touchscreen TV/display

• USB touch cable, normally USB-B to USB-C.

• HDMI cable to connect the BrightSign player to the touchscreen display

• UTP/network cable

• Power adapter for the BrightSign media player

• Optional: EGYM RFID reader and USB cable, if EGYM is part of the setup

Recommended Touchscreen Models

For FXGYM, we recommend the following iiyama touchscreens:

• 43 inch – ProLite TF4339AS-B1AG

• 55 inch – ProLite TF5539AS-B1AG

• 65 inch – ProLite TF6539AS-B1AG

All models are professional 4K touchscreens and can be used with a BrightSign player. Video is connected via HDMI and touch functionality via USB.

Important: The touchscreen display must be installed in a fixed, safe, and accessible location where users can easily reach and operate it.

The touchscreen is used to control the FXGYM interface.

2. Installation requirements

The BrightSign media player is supplied by Funxtion, but the installation location must be prepared in advance.

Make sure the location has:

• A suitable and secure position for the touchscreen display
• 1× 230 V power outlet within 1.5 metres of the touchscreen display and BrightSign media player
• 1× wired Ethernet connection near the BrightSign media player
• 10–20 Mbps of available bandwidth
• An available HDMI input on the touchscreen display
• Safe and tidy cable routing

Wi-Fi and shared guest networks should not be used for the FXGYM connection.

If these requirements are not prepared in advance, the installation may be delayed or cannot be completed.

3. Touchscreen display placement

Install the touchscreen display in a clearly visible and accessible location in the training area, such as a functional training zone, group exercise room or open gym area.

Make sure the touchscreen is:

• Securely mounted
• Easy for users to reach and operate
• Protected from accidental damage
• Installed without loose or exposed cables

Do not place the touchscreen on an unstable surface or in a location where users cannot easily operate it.

4. BrightSign media player placement

Install the BrightSign media player behind or near the touchscreen display.

Place the media player in a secure location where it cannot easily be touched, unplugged or damaged. Leave enough space for ventilation and cable connections.

The media player requires outbound internet access for content updates, synchronization, and remote management.

Ports 123 (NTP) and 53 (DNS) are not required for external access if suitable local NTP and DNS servers are available.

7. Optional: connect the EGYM RFID reader

An EGYM RFID reader is required when FXGYM is used as part of an EGYM solution.

The EGYM RFID reader must be connected to the BrightSign media player via USB.

When EGYM is used, make sure the RFID reader is easy to access, safely positioned, and connected with tidy cable routing.

8. Final check

The installation is complete when:

• The touchscreen display shows the FXGYM interface
• The touchscreen controls the interface
• The BrightSign media player is connected to the wired network
• The correct club or location content is shown
• The EGYM RFID reader works, if used

If the FXGYM interface does not appear, check the power connection, HDMI input, USB touchscreen connection, and wired network connection.
